Press Release from JOB Board

PRESS RELEASE

April 18, 2019

Jesus Our Boss announces to the community it is closing the goods4good warehouse. After months of careful consideration and prayer, several factors have influenced this decision.

The goal for goods4good was to connect JOB with the community and non-profits, facilitating a network of organizations and generating additional funds. JOB devoted a significant amount of personnel, finances, and board attention to helping the warehouse succeed. Hurdles in the way of personnel, inventory, and lease issues have required long hours of management. It has become clear that we can no longer afford such focus.

The primary factor for this decision is we believe efforts and resources must be committed to serving and mentoring the men in the Jesus Our Boss Mentor House.

The Mentor House opened 4 years ago and has served 20 men. 9 have graduated the mentoring program, 4 are married. God has graciously given us the opportunity to house these men and support them in their re-entry into society. Having learned much through our successes and failures, we believe it is our duty to intensify our commitment to this program and make changes to further our service to these men.

Jesus Our Boss will continue operations of all other existing programs and will maintain our connections to the community during this time of transition out of the goods4good warehouse.

The mission of JOB is to serve and minister to members of the community who are often overlooked by society. Specifically, we provide housing, long term mentoring, and life-skills education to formerly incarcerated men. We believe the Bible states that those who are in prison or who have been in prison are to be cared for and ministered to. Society has made it difficult for these individuals to re-enter the community and succeed. It is extremely hard for them to find long term careers, housing, and church communities that are dedicated to their care and success. JOB is committed to becoming a life-line for these individuals, providing housing, food, jobs, mentoring, and a supportive church community so that they may flourish as contributing members of society.

For any questions or if you’d like to partner with Jesus Our Boss and our work with the Mentor House, please contact Sara Mills, Director of Operations, at (530) 652-4171 or sara@jesusourboss.com.
